I believe there is a little romance in a lot of our relationships

I need your voice

And I need your stability

I need you to carry me

And I need you to catch me

But I remember

And then I withdraw

Flow from one

To the other

It’s time to change

I catch glimpses of what it was

And I throw bones to this life

I need what I need

But just for a moment

Then I’ll thrown it to the crows 🐦‍⬛

I didn’t always know about non-monogamy

I grew up around monogamy

My (beautifully aging) parents are still married

But in my heart I knew

I wanted something different

So I set out to explore

All kinds of relationships and friendships

And I found

There are so many people

That I love

And so many relationships that are meaningful

It’s not always sexual

Almost never sexual

But almost always intimate

And romantic

Platonic

But romantic

Because I’m a dreamer

A believer

And I believe that all of our relationships have the ability to

transform us

embrace us

love us

change us

Whether we’re together for a day, a week, a lifetime or a year.

All relationships have meaning.

I don’t love the rigidity with which

We have to categorize our relationships

I don’t need to sleep with you

To love you deeply

To feel intimately drawn to you

I don’t even need to be near you

To feel a deep connection

Because everyone I meet is a lover

Of a different kind

Not sexual

I hate I have to reiterate this

In our sex crazed world

Because love is deep

A love can be deeply meaningful

But that doesn’t have to mean sexual

This is a plea

A reminder of sorts

Let’s see the romance in all of our relationships

Allow for it

Because if you’re being truly honest

It already exists
